A New Book and a New Season

October is well underway, and I am not completely ready to let go of summer. Though the trees outside my window are tinged with gold and red, I still hope for one more summer-like afternoon. I know there will not be another trip to the beach, which ended with the falling water temperatures at the end of August, but a bike ride, a long walk, or a picnic are all still possible.

It is a cliched thought, but time really passes so quickly now. It moved more slowly when I was young, and was often spent waiting for a change. Summer seemed endless. By September, I looked forward to crisp temperatures, new books, and new clothes that heralded the start of a new school year. In turn, the school year seemed to drag on forever. By March, I was staring out of the classroom window, watching the snow melt and aching for the freedom of summer days. Those first days of summer were ecstasy. Oh, the sweet release from the confines of the classroom and the endless homework. Looking back, it all went by in a flash.

My new book, Pine Forest Crafts & Consequences, is about change and new beginnings. Nan Kelly moved to Pine Forest, Minnesota, and opened a craft store on the shores of Whispering Pines Lake. Her happy new life is interrupted by Mega Mining’s arrival. They are exploring the area for the potential to mine rare minerals, which is disturbing the Trumpeter Swan family on Nan’s lake. Her efforts to save the swans roil the calm of this small Northern Minnesota town. She clashes with the town’s handsome but cantankerous mayor, and when she calls on her ex-fiancé to aid her fight, it reignites old passions she thought were all in the past.

Pine Forest Crafts & Consequences is available for pre-sale. Spend a little time on one of the chilly days ahead, curled up and enjoying the adventures of Nan and the Pine Forest community, as they decide what comes next.
